Welcome back, Creator!

Recent research by Pew Research has recently provided new insights into TikTok usage in the U.S., drawing from a survey of 2,745 adult users and the usage data of 869 individuals who shared their accounts for research.

Despite the large number of TikTok users in the U.S., totaling over 150 million, the sample size represents a small fraction (0.0018%) of the platform's audience. This sample aims to cover a diverse range of ages and backgrounds.

That being said, in 2024, if you’re a content producer instead of a content consumer and frequently and consistently create content for your audience, you are part of an exclusive crowd

The FTC Is Coming For Your Fake Teeth

The FTC has made a new rule to stop people from pretending to be government agencies or companies to trick others. Here's what it means in simpler terms:

  • Pretending to be a government group or company to trick people is now against the rules.

  • If someone breaks this rule, the FTC can make them give back the money they took or pay a fine.

  • This new rule protects people from being tricked by fake government or company scams.

  • The rule says it's wrong to:

    • Act like you are part of the government or a company when you're not.

    • Use government or company logos or email addresses to deceive people.

    • Tell lies about working with a government or company.

  • These actions were already illegal, but now the FTC can punish scammers directly.

  • The rule starts 30 days after it's officially announced.

  • The FTC also considers making it illegal to pretend to be individual people and ask for their opinions.

This rule is a big deal because it gives the FTC more power to fight against scams and protect people and businesses

CREATOR MONETIZATION STRATEGIES

Is Mr. Beast Too Old To YouTube?

That headline is hyperbole
The key to MrBeast’s success is relentless optimization. Everything he makes is meticulously edited and presented in a dozen different ways for each platform it goes out on. But the key to his success as he ages through his 20s is continually making better content for his audience. Below are some bullet points highlighting how some have figured out a way to hack the algorithm and capture the same success Mr. Beast has achieved:

  • Garbage Day has been focusing a lot on Mr. Beast because he's growing fast on social media.

  • MrBeast is very popular on YouTube, X, and Instagram and is known for creating lots of content.

  • He edits his videos in different ways for each social media platform.

  • In January, Cosmo TV grew faster than MrBeast on YouTube, using a simpler strategy to get more subscribers.

  • Cosmo TV's growth strategy involves recording popular YouTube Shorts and adding visuals from an app.

  • The simplicity of Cosmo TV's content makes it easily popular on social media feeds.

  • The person behind Cosmo TV, Seed, found this growth strategy through trial and error.

  • MrBeast is trying new things to keep his audience, like posting videos in Mandarin and talking with Amazon about a game show.

  • MrBeast aims to build a broad and stable audience before his popularity wanes.

  • He is exploring opportunities beyond YouTube, such as a game show, to avoid the typical post-peak career of YouTubers.

  • MrBeast's ambition is to become something bigger than just a YouTube star, possibly a game show host.

  • There's a question about the future of YouTube influencers if their biggest stars move away from the platform.

  • MrBeast's changing content strategy shows his effort to stay relevant, but he may seek more stability as he grows older.

No More Spam DMs!

As you can see in this example, the new “People you follow” option will enable you to prioritize DMs from only the profiles you’ve chosen to follow, making it easier to prioritize personal connections.

Here are the main additions:

  • Handy addition for IG DMs to prioritize messages from important contacts, enhancing user experience.

  • Meta focuses on friendlier experiences across its platforms to boost engagement.

  • Engagement on Facebook and Instagram has risen, largely due to AI-recommended humorous and meme-based Reels moving away from divisive political content.

  • Meta aims to replicate this positive engagement strategy in its new app Threads by minimizing political content.

  • The initiative seeks to foster personal, positive connections, reducing stress and increasing user retention.

  • The new DM filter is part of Meta's efforts to create a happier user environment and maintain engagement.
