🦎 Why You Should Be Using The Feynman Technique
Inside: leverage a prompt that gives you a Nobel Prize-winning hack for creating viral content

Hey there, Creator!
If there is one thing I have learned over the last 6 years of creating content, one truth reigns supreme:
Clarity is king.

The most viral ideas aren't necessarily the most complex or groundbreaking.
They illuminate a truth so clearly and precisely that readers cannot help but share them.
Think about it.
When was the last time you eagerly shared a confusing, jargon-filled post? Probably never.
But a piece of content that crystallizes a complex concept into something profoundly simple and relatable? That's social media gold.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a meme, essay, or a Twitter thread — those “ah ha” moments of clarity trigger readers to share.
And that’s exactly where the Feynman Technique comes in —
A powerful method for distilling complex ideas into their simplest form, named after Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman.
"The first principle is that you must not fool yourself - and you are the easiest person to fool."
Richard Feynman
Today, we're delving into the Feynman Technique, your blueprint for creating content that is so clear and compelling that it practically begs to be shared.
You'll discover:
Why clarity and communication are the real drivers of viral content
The “Feynman Technique Prompt” to simplify your content ideas and make it more shareable
Ways to use AI to boost your Feynman-inspired content creation
Let's. Crawl. In. 🦎

Here, have some jet fuel
Your newsletter, now exiting the stratosphere.
We’re beehiiv, the newsletter platform built for builders. Every product we drop and feature we create is made with one goal in mind: exponential growth.
Our three founders left Morning Brew to bring the tools and tech to creators everywhere that helped turn their old company into a multi-million dollar operation. So when we say we can take you from “up-and-comer” to household name, we mean it.
If you need a beautiful destination for your content, use our no-code website builder. If you want paid subs, we don’t take a dime. If you want big name sponsors, we connect you with the likes of Nike and Netflix.
In short: maybe your newsletter is stuck on the ground floor because your newsletter platform is stuck in the last decade.

The Complexity of Viral Math: Why Clarity Will Multiply Your Reach
Let's talk numbers for a second. Not the boring kind, but the kind that can explode your content's reach.
Imagine you create a piece of content. Let's say 1,000 people see it initially.
Now, here's where clarity becomes your secret weapon:
Complex content: Maybe 10% understand it well enough to share. That's 100 shares.
Clear content: 50% get it and share—boom - 500 shares.
But it doesn't stop there. This is where the magic of exponential growth kicks in.
Those 500 people who shared your clear content? Their networks see it.
Even if only a fraction of those re-share, you're looking at thousands more eyes on your ideas.
It's not just addition. It's multiplication.

Now, factor in today's attention economy. Studies show the average human attention span is now just 8 seconds.
In this blink-and-you'll-miss-it world, clarity isn't just nice to have – it's essential for survival.
Think about memes.
They spread like wildfire by communicating a clear truth or relatable experience in a split second.
Like this one that instantly communicates the rapid pace of AI’s evolution:

Here is the Feynman Technique in action:
Take a complex idea or universal experience
Boil it down to its simplest form
Present it in an instantly understandable way
That's why you scroll past dozens of posts but stop to share that one meme that gets you.
This is the power of the Feynman Technique.
It's not about dumbing down your ideas. It's about smartening up your communication to match our rapid-fire digital world.
BY MASTERING THE FEYNMAN TECHNIQUE, YOU CAN:
Widening your funnel: More people understand and engage with your content in those precious few seconds of attention
Lowering the barrier to sharing: Easily explained ideas spread faster
Creating a ripple effect: Clear ideas reach audiences you never dreamed of
Tapping into the meme-ability factor: Crystal clear ideas are more likely to become viral content
But here's the best part about this:
The Feynman Technique doesn't just help your audience understand better.
It deepens your understanding, too.
When you strip away the BS jargon, you're left with the pure essence of an idea.
And that's often when your own "aha!" moments happen.
So, are you ready to turn your content into a viral sensation?
Let's break down how to use AI and The Feynman Technique to simplify your content (and make it more viral)…

The “Feynman Technique Prompt”
Ready to create clear and compelling content? Even your grandma will hit the share button.
Just plug your content into this prompt and watch the magic unfold:
I want you to help me create and/or improve a piece of content using the Feynman Technique.
Here's my piece of content:
[INSERT TOPIC]
Please follow these steps:
Explain the topic as if you're teaching it to a 12-year-old. Use simple language, avoid jargon, and incorporate relatable analogies or examples.
Identify any areas where the explanation might be unclear or overly complex. Edit these areas to simplify them further.
Maintain the same or similar writing style and personality as the original.
Don't overuse analogies. Only use them when necessary.
Don't use exclamation points. Don't use too many question marks, either.
Reorganize the explanation into a coherent narrative structure. Use suspenseful and compelling storytelling techniques to make the concept more engaging and memorable.
Suggest a catchy, benefit-driven headline for this piece of content that would make people want to click and share.
The final output should be:
Clear enough for a middle-schooler to understand
Engaging and relatable, using vivid analogies and examples
Structured in a logical, easy-to-follow manner
Focused on communicating a fundamental truth or insight about the topic
Most importantly, the final output should be a cohesive, complete final draft of the improved content that can be immediately copy-pasted and published online.
Remember, the goal is to strip away complexity and reveal the core truth of the concept in a way that resonates with a wide audience and will go viral on the internet.

HOW TO USE THE FEYNMAN TECHNIQUE PROMPT:
Copy-paste a piece of content into the [INSERT CONTENT] placeholder. This content can be a rough draft, an old thread, a tweet, a short-form video that didn’t perform well, etc.
After inputting a previous post I made that flopped into the Feynman Technique Prompt, here’s the improved output it gave me:

It turned out noticeably better.
My original thread was slightly too confusing and did not clarify the King’s League enough.
But the Feynman Technique cleaned it up and explained it in a way that made it instantly more clear.
I’ll repost this thread again in around a month or so, and I expect to get better results next time. 🙂

Then watch as your audience transforms from confused bystanders to enthusiastic sharers of your ideas.
See you next Tuesday @ 10 am.🦎
